Not all beginnings are planned. Sometimes, the most powerful ideas are born from moments of hardship — from a need unmet or a wound that refuses to heal. That’s how Thawab came to life.
It didn’t start as an organization. It began as a human experience — a deep, personal realization that something had to change. That realization turned into a spark, then an idea, then a movement. Today, Thawab is a growing community of hundreds of passionate volunteers from all across Egypt, united by one belief: that meaningful change is possible — and within reach.
What started as a heartfelt response to a local struggle quickly grew into a collective responsibility. We realized that Egypt is not short on kindness — it only needs direction, structure, and a shared sense of purpose.
Thawab was founded to be that purpose. A non-profit development foundation built on the principles of sustainability and charitable endowment (waqf), we focus on empowering under-resourced families across Egypt to lead better, more independent lives. From microfinance to healthcare, training, awareness, environmental renewal, and community support — we invest in people, not just projects.
At Thawab, we don’t just offer help — we walk beside people as they rebuild their lives with dignity. We plant seeds of impact that last — because to us, Thawab isn’t just a name.
In 2020, after three years of heartfelt, dedicated volunteer work, what began as a simple initiative blossomed into an official organization known as Thawab Foundation for Development.
This founding wasn’t just a legal milestone — it was the culmination of a journey marked by perseverance, compassion, and deep understanding of the real needs around us. Thawab wasn’t built in offices, but in villages, homes, and in the eyes of those who longed for help and dared to hope.
A chapter of greater structure, deeper impact, and wider reach. Since then, Thawab has continued to grow — not just in numbers, but in hearts that join the cause, hands that reach out to support, and communities transformed by shared commitment.
Eradicating unemployment, illiteracy, poverty, and illness in Egypt by establishing the concept of changing people in need to be forces of money generation through becoming entrepreneurs. In addition to solidify the concept of good deed “Thawab” continuity and sustainability through “Waqf” model.
Providing a comprehensive organized charity service to gain the trust of the donors while empowering people in need to achieve their full potential and elevate their standards of living
Thawab means the reward or blessing one receives from Allah for doing good deeds. It’s more than just a word — it’s a powerful reminder that every act of kindness, every helping hand, and every selfless effort carries a meaningful, spiritual return.
It embodies the idea that goodness never goes unnoticed and that true reward comes not just in this life, but beyond.
Naming the foundation “Thawab” reflects this spirit — a commitment to continuous giving, knowing that every positive impact we make is part of a greater purpose, a lasting legacy of hope and compassion.
We support orphans, microfinance entrepreneurs, and people in need in the underprivileged areas all over Egypt. We also implement sustainable projects that create jobs, improve living conditions, enhance skills, raise awareness, and provide health care.
We invite you to join our story and be part of the journey. You can donate, volunteer, partner, or share your ideas with us.
A man of Egypt, born in Aswan, whose heart has always been devoted to serving others. Guided by a sincere desire to bring good into people’s lives, he was—by the grace of God—a driving force behind the birth of a lasting developmental movement. With deep experience in charitable work and community-based initiatives, he was among the first to carry the vision of Thawab, leading the team from its early steps in 2017 until it became an officially registered foundation in 2020. Today, he serves as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Thawab Foundation for Development, continuing to lead with purpose, planting seeds of hope, and building a legacy of impact where it’s needed most.
